Providing forum for professional to exchange views.
- Establish networking with technical institutions & industries for improving professionalism.
- Offering career development & continuing education programs.
- Constantly expanding the horizons of the department to reflect changing technologies.
- Produce competent manpower for Design, Development & Revise curricula in existing & emerging technologies.
- Provide guidance in conducting researches & developing learning resources.
THE CURRENT ROLES OF THE DEPARTMENT

Teacher training in content areas of offering content updating courses for Mechanical Engineering teachers
- Curriculum development in Mechanical Engineering subjects by leading and guiding curriculum groups in preparing curricula in Mechanical Engineering subjects scientifically
- Promotion of Learning Resources development in print media through own efforts and by training and guiding technical teacher groups formed for the purpose
- Promotion of laboratory innovations in Mechanical Engineering by developing new experiments, demonstrations etc, and by training Mechanical Engineering teachers

Collaboration with academic bodies to promote innovative changes in course structures such as introduction of competency/flexibility modular programmes
- Collaboration with the industry for mutual benefit in the larger interest of technical education

Facilitation of the introduction of new technology programme in Mechanical Engineering through assistance in teacher training, curriculum development, laboratory facilities development, learning resource development etc.
- Promotion of the skills, know-how and expertise of the faculty and supporting staff of the department through continuously carrying out internal faculty development programme
- Faculty guidance in project work of Under - graduate / Post-graduate students in Mechanical Engineering related projects
- Facilitating internal revenue generation of the institute through consultancy programme in technical teachers training for the benefit of overseas participants
- Organise pre-service and in-service training of industry personnel

- Mechanical Engineering Workcentre is equipped with all necessary gadgets and machines for preparing mechanical jobs, audio-video aids, models and experimental setups. This centre assists training and faculty in their project and developmental work.
