The extension centre was set up in 1999 in the directorate of technical education.Today it independently conducts programs in all areas of content updating as well as educational technology. Based on a TNA analysis which is regularly conducted every year to identify and meet the specific state of Goa requirements. The Extension centre also conducts need based training Programmes and projects under the MOU which was established in 2004 with the Goa education development corporation (GEDC). GEDC-NITTTR project programmes run without any hurdle even the NITTTR programmes run parallel with them. The Extension centre plays a key role in cementing ties between government of Goa and NITTTR Bhopal, Principals of the Goa Technical Institutes and NITTTR, Bhopal. The extension centre plays a key role in assisting Director of Technical Education and Secretary Higher Education of the state of Goa on any matters/ projects specific to Goa state needs related to technical education. Conceptualizing, Designing and developing new Programmes for the state of Goa keeping in view the needs of the teaching faculty and interest of the state. Marketing programmes at NITTTR Bhopal and deputing participants for the programmes at Bhopal. Ensuring that all programmes are conducted as per calendar scheduled besides marketing of programmes is done to seek maximum participants.

Training Programmes, Projects are provided to Goa State Professional Colleges , Polytechnics coming under AICTE, Goa Government Department.
Work in close collaboration with the Directorate of Technical Education of Goa State Resource Centre, such as:
Curriculum Development Centre
Learning Resource Development Centre
Continuing and Distance Education Centre
for development of Technical Technician and Pharmacy Education System.
Network with Industry, Field Agencies and other Stake Holders to remain Labour Market Oriented in Education and Training of Technical Manpower.
Draw up an expertise and pool resources available in other states through the NITTTR Extension Centres of those states.
Plan Programmes and Projects for the State.

Industry Institute Interaction
Progressive and Summative Assessment
New Models of Governance and Self Sustaining Institutions
Learning Resource Development
Developing Schemes of Assessment in view of changing Curricular needs
